This society organizes various programmes for dissemination of information among the public. One such event is the conduction of conference Sangoshthi. Sangoshthi is held aperiodically. First conference was held in the year 2008.

Sangoshthi - 2012

Sangoshthi - 2012 was held during 21-23 December 2012, with aims to discuss the implementation / acceptance of developments in the areas of high performance computing; grid computing; cluster computing; etc. The conference witnessed presentations from experts of the concerned fields.



Sangoshthi - 2008

Library & Information Science Promotion Society (LISPS) in association with Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Facility (BARCF), Kalpakkam, Bharatiya Nabhiliya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI), Kalpakkam and Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited (NPCIL), Kalpakkam organized a three day conference Sangoshthi 2008 during 24-26 July, 2008. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. E. Balagurusamy, Hon. Chairman, UPSC, New Delhi in the gracious presence of Padmashree Dr. Baldev Raj, Director, IGCAR, Kalpakkam, Shri Prabhat Kumar, Chairman, LISPS and Project Director, BHAVINI, Kalpakkam and Dr. S. P. Garg.

Dr. Raj, in his inaugural talk, stressed on the necessity of knowledge sharing among the DAE community. He had highlighted the necessity to ensure the sustained high growth of agriculture for the growth of India, at least doubling the agricultural production to reach the world average. He had also highlighted the need to change the education system, so that students opt for different professions, unlike the current situation where Engineering and Medicine are the most preferred ones.

Professor E. Balagurusamy in his inaugural address had highlighted, how the keywords of the conference namely IT, Knowledge Management and Growth of India are close to his heart. Though India is number one in the production IT and IT Enabled Services, it is at the position of 99 in the usage of IT. He emphasized the need in efforts to make a change in this scenario.

The conference proceedings went on well with the deliberations from the likes of Shri Prabhat Kumar, Dr. J. K. Suresh, and many subject experts from various streams like medicine, society, finance, library, and agriculture.

The three day conference ended with closing remarks of Shri Prabhat Kumar, followed by Vote of Thanks by Dr. T. S. Rao. The success of conference lies not in organizing it perfectly, but in implementing the lessons learnt. The organisers of the conference showed commitment and participated in the conference to see that all the lessons learnt will be duly percolated within their departments. This will not only develop the society, but also provide new avenues to be discussed and deliberated in future conferences of LISPS, all for the Societal Development and Growth of India.
